Femme Castratrice

Chao-Ying Rao (performing under Femme Castratrice) is an East Asian multi-disciplinary artist whose interests circulate around fringe and contentious topics as she playfully analyses our habitual discomforts. Her practice combines her lived experiences alongside questions of censorship, objectification, fetishisation, and bodily autonomy.

In this new performance work, Femme Castratrice pays homage to Aileen Carol Wournos (1956-2002), a female serial killer revered amongst sex workers for killing her abusive clients.
